President Trump tweets that he is being investigated for Russia collusion

June 16, 2017

President Donald Trump is not afraid to say what he thinks, and he used his Twitter platform today – where he has more than 32 million followers on just one social media account – to defend himself again the political “witch hunt” against him where it concerns allegations he colluded with the Russians.

“After 7 months of investigations & committee hearings about my ‘collusion with the Russians,’ nobody has been able to show any proof,” the President tweeted at nearly 5 a.m. EST on Friday.

“Sad!” he exclaimed.

Later in the morning, he tweeted that he was “being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director!”

Adding, “Witch Hunt.”

Special counsel Robert Mueller is investigating whether or not the President attempted to obstruct justice where it concerns the Russia investigation, according to officials.

The Russia probe has been front and center in recent weeks, as the Senate Intelligence Committee has continued its investigation into Russia’s alleged hacking of the 2016 Presidential election, and the public hearings have been highly publicized and scrutinized. The Russia investigation has been ongoing for about a year now.

Former FBI Director James Comey was fired from his post for in May to relieve pressure surrounding the Russia investigation, he later learned.

Earlier in the year, Comey had told Trump that the President was not personally under investigation at the time.

Comey also testified under oath in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee earlier this month that President Trump did not “obstruct” Comey or ask that he stop the Russia investigation.

Trump also went after the “Fake News Media” in his early morning tweets on Friday.

“The Fake News Media hates when I use what has turned out to be my very powerful Social Media – over 100 million people,” he exclaimed. “I can go around them.”

Trump also tweeted, “Despite the phony Witch Hunt going on in America, the economics & jobs numbers are great. Regulations way down, jobs and enthusiasm way up!”

Trump tweeted earlier this week about the “Witch Hunt” investigation, too.

“They made up a phony collusion with the Russians story, found zero proof, so now they go for obstruction of justice on the phony story. Nice,” Trump tweeted on Thursday.

“You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT for American political history – led by some very bad and conflicted people,” Trump added earlier this week, using the hash tag “MAGA,” or Make America Great Again.
