Investigative journalist James O’Keefe confirmed on Monday that he and his team were detained by Vermont State Police officers near the northern border between the United States and Canada while working on a “special project.”

O’Keefe announced Monday’s incident in a post on X, formerly Twitter, saying, “My team and I have been detained near the Canadian border by the Vermont State police.”

“I’m announcing something big,” O’Keefe added. “It’s not a video—it’s something I’ve been working on for a year. I’ll be on stage in Fort Worth, Texas, with Tucker Carlson tomorrow to make the announcement. Stay tuned.”

O’Keefe Media Group told The Post Millennial that the conservative investigative journalist has “a massive project coming out for release this week.” O’Keefe Media Group also noted that the organization was “worried about James on this one.”

“He was detained by the Vermont state police for working on a special project and we’re hoping for the best on this one,” O’Keefe Media Group stated.

According to The Post Millennial, while O’Keefe has not yet announced what he was investigating on Monday before being detained by Vermont State Police officers or what he is planning to unveil during his live appearance with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson in Fort Worth, Texas, the investigative journalist has been conducting extensive research regarding donations on Act Blue, a popular Democrat fundraising platform.

O’Keefe is expected to make a major announcement during Tuesday’s event with Carlson in Fort Worth. The former Fox News host has recently been traveling across the United States on his first tour. Carlson’s tour has included appearances by Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, former 2024 presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., conservative commentator Jack Posobiec, and actress and comedian Roseanne Barr.
