Social media exploded Sunday evening with footage of NFL star Cam Newton in a fight at the exclusive “We Ball Sports” tournament in Atlanta.

Cell phone footage of the fight was shared on X, formerly Twitter, by several users, including Robert Griffin III, who operates an independent sports news channel.

In the video, Newton gets into a fight with a group of men who are also participating in the tournament until members of security intervene and end the altercation.

Newton, who is from Atlanta, runs the C1N, an organization founded in 2021 that focuses on developing young athletes’ skills in football by providing opportunities to compete at the highest level through 7-on-7 tournaments and other events, according to Newton’s website.

“The organization’s flagship program is its 7v7 all-star team, which brings together some of the most talented young football players from across the country to compete in national tournaments and showcases. C1N’s team is known for its fast-paced, high-scoring style of play and has earned a reputation as one of the top 7v7 teams in the country,” the website states.

Newton was quarterback for the Carolina Panthers before he unofficially retired from professional sports in 2021. He owns and operates several businesses and restaurants in Atlanta. Newton credited both his drive to diversify his platform and his children for the change in his career.

“Me having a family now, it’s always been about family, and I don’t see myself leaving Atlanta. If it’s not Atlanta, I don’t want to do it,” Newton said, according to All Panthers.
