Videos: Brawl breaks out at chaotic golf tournament

The Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament spiraled “out of control” into what one PGA Tour golfer described as a “sh-t show” as a brawl broke out between fans, alcohol sales were temporarily suspended due to viral videos of drunk fans, and a topless man was arrested after jumping onto the course and diving into a greenside bunker.

Byong Hun An, a South Korean golfer, described the tournament in a post on X, formerly Twitter, saying, “Sh-t shows. Totally out of control on every hole.” The PGA Tour golfer also tweeted, “Yes i know what I signed up for. Played here multiple times over the years and it was fine until today… it’s just personal experience.”

A video shared over the weekend on social media showed a brawl that erupted between fans at the golf tournament. According to The Daily Caller, while the cause of the fight has not yet been revealed, the tournament is known for rowdy fans and heavy drinking.

The video footage shows three individuals involved in the fight, with one of the individuals throwing a punch that resulted in another individual pulling the first person down to the ground, followed by a brawl on the ground between the three fans.

According to The New York Post, the Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament is known as the “Greatest Show on Grass” and is attended by as many as 200,000 fans each year.

The Independent reported that alcohol sales were temporarily suspended during part of this year’s tournament after viral videos circulated on social media of drunk fans spiraling out of control.

In another video, a topless man was recorded jumping onto the 16th hole of the golf course, diving into a greenside bunker, and making snow angels in the sand.” According to The Independent, the man was later arrested for his actions.

Finally, in a third video, former US Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson was recorded in an intense exchange with nearby fans, yelling that he was “sick of it” and demanding fans “just shut up.”
