A batch of classified documents was found in the garage of one of President Joe Biden’s Delaware homes, White House lawyers revealed on Thursday.
“During the review, the lawyers discovered among personal and political papers a small number of additional Obama-Biden administration records with classified markings,” Richard Sauber, Special Counsel to the President, said in a statement posted on Twitter. “All but one of these documents were found in storage space in the President’s Wilmington residence garage.”

After the documents were discovered in Biden’s garage, the Department of Justice was “immediately notified,” Sauber’s statement continued, noting that “no documents were found in the Rehoboth Beach residence.”
Since classified documents were initially discovered at the Penn Biden Center in November, Biden’s lawyers have been searching for any additional classified material at other locations he used. It is unclear what the classified documents contained.
Last year, the Justice Department said it received evidence that classified documents were “likely” concealed at former President Donald Trump’s home in defiance of a grand jury subpoena, leading to a raid on Mar-a-Lago.
The DOJ released a photo that was allegedly taken during the FBI raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, which showed several documents marked “secret” and “top secret” strewn across the floor.
A photo of the documents found at Biden’s home has not been released. As president, Trump had the authority to declassify any document, whereas Biden did not have that authority as vice president.
“Terrible the way the FBI, during the Raid of Mar-a-Lago, threw documents haphazardly all over the floor (perhaps pretending it was me that did it!), and then started taking pictures of them for the public to see. Thought they wanted them kept Secret? Lucky I Declassified!” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social at the time.
