A letter that contained a mysterious white powder substance was sent to Donald Trump Jr.’s Manhattan residence on Monday.
His wife, Vanessa Trump, opened the letter Monday morning and was then taken to the hospital. The white powder was later discovered to be non-hazardous, and no one was harmed.
The letter was postmarked from Boston, and the white substance appeared to be corn starch.
Officials familiar with the case told NBC what the letter said, and they reported the following:
“You are an awful, awful person. I am surprised that your father lets you speak on TV. You the family idiot. Eric looks smart. This is the reason why people hate you. You are getting what you deserve. So shut the fu*k up.”
Authorities are still investigating who sent the letter.
On Monday, Trump Jr. tweeted: “Thankful that Vanessa and my children are safe and unharmed after the incredibly scary situation that occurred this morning. Truly disgusting that certain individuals choose to express their opposing views with such disturbing behavior.”
