There was a deadly terror attack in Barcelona, Spain, this week, and 13 people have died and dozens more are injured after a van plowed through pedestrians on the streets in the Las Ramblas tourist district on Thursday, and then gunmen held hostages at a nearby restaurant.
U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Friday that one American is among those who have died.
ISIS claimed responsibility for the terror attack.
“The perpetrators of the Barcelona attack are soldiers of the Islamic State and carried out the operation in response to calls for targeting coalition states [‘referring to a United States-led coalition against the Sunni militant group’],” according to the group’s Amaq propaganda news agency, The Guardian reported.
“Gunfire was heard at the Corte Ingles store in the area after police announced a ‘massive crash,’ ” The Daily Mail reported.
While arrests have been made, police are still reportedly searching for the driver of the van.
