Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour, stated that Saudi Arabia is sponsoring terrorism and that Iran’s preparedness is thwarting such acts of Saudi state-sponsored terrorism in the Islamic Republic.

In a press conference in Tehran, Pakpour said,
“The fact that organized acts of terrorism are not carried out in Iran today is not because they (terrorists) are unwilling to do so, it is rather because of our preparedness. Saudi Arabia, through its organized financial aid, is trying to endanger our security today. Terrorists once had equipment problem for clashing with us, but these countries are now providing their equipment today.”
After sharply chastising the United Arab Emirates and the Saudis for equipping terrorists, he went on to state that the IRGC Ground Force has ‘accurate intelligence dominance’ when faced with anti-Iran threats and any move against the Islamic Republic’s security is stopped immediately. According to Pakpour, full security measures are in place along Iran’s borders and coupled with IRGC’s presence, it has successful operations stopping terror attacks in recent years.
Whilst Pakpour blames Saudi Arabia for state-sponsored terrorism, Iran itself engages in not only state sponsored terrorism, but also pays the families of martyrs. The commander of the IRGC Quds Force met with Hamas only a few weeks ago in a clandestine meeting between the two. Hamas, the terror group who sent its commanders into the Sinai Peninsula for the sole purpose of training the Wilayat Sinai, an Islamic State Branch in military tactical operations with one goal in mind: mass casualties.
Since Pakpour claims Iran has ‘accurate intelligence dominance,’ surely Iran and the IRGC are fully aware that Hamas is training Islamic State in the Sinai; the same Islamic State that Iran professes to be actively “fighting.” Additionally, it was only a few days ago that Pakpour’s colleague, the commander of the IRGC, Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari threatened Saudi Arabia over Hezbollah, the other terror group Iran sponsors who consistently threatens Israel and her people.
The United States State Department designated Iran a sponsor of terrorism in 1984 and in a 2014 report, the State Department noted that Iran had not ceased its actions regarding its state sponsored terrorism.
With Iran consistently testing the waters and its flagrant antagonistic posturing in the Middle East, what would be the best course of action to quell Iran’s rapidly advancing military posturing? Sound off in the comments below!
