KC-135 tail decorated for Christmas

A bright full moon is setting in the west during the early morning of December 12, 2019, behind a static display of a U.S. Air Force KC-135 Statotanker tail that is on display and decorated for Christmas at the Iowa Air National Guard’s 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City, Iowa. Each year during Christmas, the Iowa Air National Guard’s 185th Air Refueling Wing decorates the KC-135 Stratotanker tail that is on static display near the entrance of the Sioux City, Iowa based Air Guard unit.

During the early morning hours of December 12, 2019 a full moon was slowly setting behind the static display and presented a particular dramatic backdrop for the tail that is on display.

The 185th flies the KC-135 mid-air refueling aircraft that is represented by the KC-135 tail that is on display.

The 185th ARW often has at least some unit members who are away from home during the holiday season. For unit members who are not able to be home this year, few photos as a holiday postcard from home.
