Border Patrol arrests previously deported sex offenders

TUCSON, Ariz. – U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a 28-year-old Guatemalan man convicted of sexual crimes after he illegally re-entered the United States east of Lukeville, Arizona, Saturday evening.

Around 7:30 p.m., Tucson Sector agents patrolling a rugged area of the desert east of Lukeville encountered Marvin Flores-Gamez. Records checks revealed Flores-Gamez was convicted of Sexual Assault in Bergen County, New Jersey, in 2014. He was subsequently remanded to state prison until his removal from the country in September of 2018.

In a similar incident, agents arrested 57-year-old Cenobio Herrera-Hernandez, convicted of sexual offenses in the state of Washington, Thursday evening after he re-entered the United States near Douglas.

Both Flores-Gamez and Herrera-Hernandez are being federally prosecuted for re-entry of a previously deported felon.

All persons apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks using biometrics to ensure illegal aliens with criminal histories are positively identified.
