Officials have confirmed that the U.S. military conducted “large-scale strikes” against ISIS targets in Syria on Saturday as part of the military operation President Donald Trump ordered after an ISIS terrorist killed two U.S. soldiers and a civilian interpreter last month in an ambush attack.
In a Saturday press release, U.S. Central Command announced that the U.S. military operated alongside partner forces to execute “large-scale strikes against multiple ISIS targets across Syria” around 12:30 p.m.
“These strikes are part of Operation Hawkeye Strike, which was launched and announced on Dec. 19, 2025, at the direction of President Trump, in direct response to the deadly ISIS attack on U.S. and Syrian forces in Palmyra, Syria, on Dec. 13, 2025,” U.S. Central Command wrote. “That ambush, carried out by an ISIS terrorist, resulted in the tragic deaths of two American soldiers and one U.S. civilian interpreter.”
“The strikes today targeted ISIS throughout Syria as part of our ongoing commitment to root out Islamic terrorism against our warfighters, prevent future attacks, and protect American and partner forces in the region,” U.S. Central Command added. “U.S. and coalition forces remain resolute in pursuing terrorists who seek to harm the United States.”

Last month, the Department of War confirmed that Army Sgt. William Howard and Army Sgt. Edgar Torres Tovar, who were assigned to the 1st Squadron, 113th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, Iowa Army National Guard, and Ayad Mansoor Sakat, a civilian interpreter, were killed by an ISIS terrorist in Syria on December 13. The Department of War noted that the individuals were deployed in Syria as part of Operation Inherent Resolve.
Following the deaths of the two U.S. soldiers and the civilian interpreter, U.S. Central Command announced that over 70 ISIS targets in central Syria were targeted by the U.S. military and partner forces as part of Operation Hawkeye Strike, which was ordered by the president.
In Saturday’s press release, U.S. Central Command issued a strong warning to anyone who would try to harm U.S. service members in the future.
“Our message remains strong: if you harm our warfighters, we will find you and kill you anywhere in the world, no matter how hard you try to evade justice,” U.S. Central Command stated.
A video of Saturday’s strikes was shared by U.S. Central Command on X, formerly Twitter.
