A new report claims the Justice Department has served six grand jury subpoenas against Democrat officials in Minnesota as President Donald Trump’s administration investigates an alleged conspiracy regarding the obstruction of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations throughout the state.

In a Tuesday statement on X, formerly Twitter, Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin said Justice Department sources confirmed that subpoenas had been issued to the offices of Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.), Attorney General Keith Ellison, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, St. Paul Mayor Kaohly Her, and Hennepin and Ramsey Counties.

According to Fox News, sources said the subpoenas were served by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and were issued to obtain communications and records. The outlet previously reported that Walz and Frey were under federal investigation for allegedly obstructing the efforts of federal law enforcement officials.

At the time, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche told Fox News, “When the governor or the mayor threaten our officers, when the mayor suggests that he’s encouraging citizens to call 911 when they see ICE officers, that is very close to a federal crime.”

In response to the Trump administration’s investigation into Democrat officials in Minnesota, Walz tweeted, “Two days ago, it was Elissa Slotkin. Last week it was Jerome Powell. Before that, Mark Kelly. Weaponizing the justice system against your opponents is an authoritarian tactic. The only person not being investigated for the shooting of Renee Good is the federal agent who shot her.”

Walz issued another statement on social media on Tuesday, warning that Minnesota will not be “drawn into political theater.” The Democrat governor claimed that the Justice Department’s investigation in Minnesota is not an effort to “seek justice” but is a “partisan distraction.” Walz stated, “Minnesota will not be intimidated into silence and neither will I.”

In a statement to Fox News, Abigail Jackson, a White House spokeswoman, pushed back against Walz’s comments, saying, “It’s laughable that Tim Walz — who has smeared heroic ICE officers as ‘Gestapo’ and declared that Minnesota is at ‘war against the federal government’ — is complaining about division when he’s the one perpetrating it.”

“Tim Walz should stop defending criminal illegal aliens and work with the Trump Administration to get these sickos out of American communities,” Jackson added.
