Vice President J.D. Vance recently urged Americans to have a “little bit of patience” with regard to President Donald Trump’s administration’s efforts to fix the economy after former President Joe Biden put the United States in a “very, very tough spot.”
During an event hosted by Breitbart News last month, the vice president addressed mounting concerns by Americans regarding the current state of the economy after the first 10 months of the Trump administration. The Breitbart News event came as Democrats continue to push the issue of affordability prior to the 2026 midterm elections.
Vance explained that while the Trump administration has made “incredible progress” on economic issues, the administration knows that more work needs to be done to turn the economy around and address the affordability crisis created under the Biden administration.
“Even though we’ve made incredible progress, we understand that there’s a lot more work to do,” Vance said. “The thing I’d ask for the American people is a little bit of patience.”
According to The Post Millennial, Vance claimed that the American economy was “not harmed in 10 months” and that despite making significant progress during the first 10 months of the Trump administration, it is “going to take a little bit of time for every American to feel that economic boom, which we really do believe is coming.”

“My message to the American people who are still feeling like things are unaffordable, who are still feeling like things are rough out there is, look, we get it and we hear you, and we know there’s a lot of work to do,” Vance said. “There’s a lot of wood to chop because the Biden administration put us in such a very, very tough spot.”
Vance’s comments during the recent Breitbart News event are similar to comments Trump made during his economic speech at a rally in Pennsylvania last week. The president is expected to hold multiple rallies focused on the issue of affordability to highlight the steps his administration is taking to bring prices down for the American people.
In a Thursday statement on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “I inherited a MESS from the Biden Administration — The Worst Inflation in History, and the Highest Prices our Country has ever seen. In other words, Affordability, just 13 months ago, was a DISASTER for the American People, but now, it’s totally different! Prices are coming down FAST, Energy, Oil and Gasoline, are hitting five year lows, and the Stock Market today just hit an All Time High. Tariffs are bringing in Hundreds of Billions of Dollars, and we are respected as a Nation again.”
