A new report claims that a U.S. drone strike conducted on Thursday against a drug smuggling submersible vessel in the Caribbean left at least two survivors.
Fox News reported that an anonymous U.S. official told the outlet that the military’s drone strike against a “big” submersible vessel left two or three survivors after it was hit on Thursday in international waters. The official confirmed that the U.S. military launched search and rescue assets, including a helicopter, following the military strike in the Caribbean.
According to Fox News, one U.S. official said the military drone strike was executed against a submersible or semi-submersible vessel. The official claimed that at least one person was killed in the strike, while at least two people survived the attack.
While Fox News initially reported that it was not clear whether the survivors were rescued, the outlet later reported that the U.S. military is believed to have taken the survivors of the drone strike into custody.

Asked by a reporter regarding the U.S. military drone strike against the drug smuggling submersible during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House on Friday, President Donald Trump said, “We attacked a submarine, and that was a drug-carrying submarine built specifically for the transportation of massive amounts of drugs, just so you understand.”
“This was not an innocent group of people,” Trump added. “That was an attack on a drug-carrying, loaded-up submarine.”
According to Reuters, Thursday’s U.S. drone strike against the drug smuggling submersible vessel marks the first of the recent strikes against drug cartel smugglers to have left survivors. The outlet reported that the drone strike is at least the sixth military strike carried out as the Trump administration continues targeting drug cartels and drug smuggling operations in the Caribbean.
Fox News reported that the latest military strike in the Caribbean brings the death toll from the anti-smuggling strikes to at least 28.
