A flight attendant was injured after two Delta Air Lines airplanes “absolutely smashed” into each other on the LaGuardia Airport’s runway in New York on Wednesday night.
Fox News reported that two Canadair CRJ-900 regional airplanes collided on the runway at the LaGuardia Airport at roughly 9:58 p.m. on Wednesday night. The outlet noted that the two airplanes were operated by Endeavor Air, which is a subsidiary of Delta Air Lines.
According to The New York Post, one of the CRJ-900 airplanes had 32 people on board and was departing for Roanoke, Virginia; however, it collided with the fuselage of the other CRJ-900 airplane, which had traveled from Charlotte, North Carolina, with 61 people on board. The New York Post reported that the collision resulted in damage to the nose of one of the airplanes and significant damage to one of the wings of the other airplane.
“Their right wing clipped our nose and the cockpit,” a pilot said in air traffic control audio obtained by The New York Post. “We have damage to our windscreen and… some of our screens in here.”
Pictures of the damage caused to the two airplanes involved in Wednesday night’s collision were shared on X, formerly Twitter.
In a video shared on social media, CBS News producer Joey Annuziato, who was a passenger on the airplane arriving from Charlotte, described the moment the two airplanes collided on Wednesday.

“We got absolutely smashed by another Delta flight. I don’t know if we hit them or they hit us, but it was super jarring,” Annuziato said. “Everyone shot forward in their seats and it was kind of a little chaotic as soon as it happened. We were shocked at what happened.”
According to Fox News, a Delta spokesperson confirmed that a flight attendant sustained a minor injury as a result of Wednesday’s collision. The spokesperson told Fox News that the flight attendant was treated by first responders before being transported to a local hospital and that no other passengers were injured in the collision.
“Delta teams at our New York-LaGuardia hub are working to ensure our customers are taken care of after two Delta Connection aircraft operated by Endeavor Air were involved in a low-speed collision during taxi,” Morgan Durrant, a Delta spokesperson, said. “Delta will work with all relevant authorities to review what occurred as safety of our customers and people comes before all else. We apologize to our customers for the experience.”
Fox News reported that Delta said it will work alongside the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board to review Wednesday’s collision incident.
