Trevor Noah, a left-wing comedian and former host of “The Daily Show,” recently mocked Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk’s assassination, claiming that it was “funny” that the conservative activist was “shot while defending guns.”
During a recent comedy routine, Noah applauded Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Comedy Festival for “moving in the right direction” with regard to civil liberties after the comedy festival included an audience of both men and women. Meanwhile, the left-wing comedian criticized the current state of comedy in the United States following Kirk’s assassination.
“Meanwhile, here, comedians are sh-tting themselves,” Noah said. “‘Don’t say anything about Charlie Kirk.’ ‘I wasn’t going to say anything about [him].’ ‘Yeah, but don’t say anything about Charlie.’ ‘I wasn’t going to say anything about Charlie Kirk.’ ‘But don’t. There’s nothing funny about it.'”

“Oh, now you tested me,’ Noah added. “There’s nothing funny about it? You can’t say there’s nothing funny about it.”
The former host of “The Daily Show” argued that, as a comedian, he was sure he could find “something funny” about the assassination of the Turning Point USA founder.
“The guy was shot while defending guns,” Noah continued. “Do you understand how, I’m not even writing that as a joke, as a human, you have to admit that is an incongruous, funny thing that happens. You’re onstage, like, ‘Let me tell you why people should have guns.’ Wa-pow!”
The left-wing comedian later offered a defense regarding his joke about Kirk’s assassination, saying, “There’s nothing inherently funny about death, but this idea that you can’t even joke about something, that’s ridiculous. It’s literally what comedians do.”
“To me, it’s like, ‘Someone got shot.’ It’s not great. I didn’t wish for it. But now you can’t, like, terrorize your population if they dare to say something about the thing. Do you know what I mean?” Noah added. “This is the same country where people make jokes about Abraham Lincoln being shot.”
Noah’s recent comedy routine has sparked backlash on social media, with many social media users criticizing the left-wing comedian for mocking an assassination.
One social media user wrote, “You must be soulless to find anything funny about a murder.” Another social media user tweeted, “This is gross.” A third social media user commented, “He should have listened to the people that told him not to say anything about Charlie Kirk. There is nothing funny about it and a washed up former Daily Show host isn’t going to make it funny.”
