Multiple U.S. military bases in Europe have confirmed that certain services are temporarily closed due to the partial government shutdown caused by the disagreement between Democrats and Republicans over a continuing resolution to fund the federal government.
A statement on the U.S. Department of War’s website states, “The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Sept. 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status, without pay, until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.”
In a Wednesday statement on X, formerly Twitter, the Department of War confirmed that there will be “limited updates” on social media due to the “lapse of appropriations” during the current government shutdown.
