Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel announced that multiple individuals were arrested on Friday morning as the FBI “thwarted a potential terrorist attack” in Michigan that was allegedly planned to take place over the Halloween weekend.
In a statement on X, formerly Twitter, on Friday, Patel said, “This morning the FBI thwarted a potential terrorist attack and arrested multiple subjects in Michigan who were allegedly plotting a violent attack over Halloween weekend.”
Patel explained that additional details regarding the thwarted terrorist attack will be released by the agency. The FBI director also thanked FBI agents and law enforcement officials for “standing guard 24/7 and crushing our mission to defend the homeland.”
Following the arrest of the suspects who were allegedly planning to carry out a terrorist attack in Michigan, Patel told Fox News that the potential terrorist attack was “stopped before it could unfold” due to the “swift action and close coordination” between the FBI and the agency’s local law enforcement partners in Michigan.

Patel added, “The vigilance of this FBI prevented what could have been a tragic attack — and thanks to their dedication, Michigan will have a safe and happy Halloween.”
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino also released a statement on social media following Friday’s arrests. In his statement, Bongino emphasized that the FBI’s top priority is protecting the American homeland and pledged that the FBI “will not rest.”
In a statement obtained by Fox News, Bongino highlighted the life-saving efforts of the agency, saying, “This is what real law enforcement looks like — proactive, relentless, and focused on saving lives.”
“Our agents and partners in Michigan acted fast, followed the evidence, and stopped a threat before anyone got hurt,” the deputy FBI director added. “Under the leadership of Director Patel and the watch of this FBI, America is a safer place.”
The Dearborn Police Department confirmed in a Friday morning post on Facebook that the department was “made aware that the FBI conducted operations in the City of Dearborn” earlier in the morning and assured local residents that there “is no threat to the community at this time.” The department did not immediately confirm whether the operations in Dearborn were connected to the FBI’s actions that led to the thwarting of the potential terrorist attack in the state.
