President Donald Trump confirmed on Friday that the suspect believed to be responsible for the assassination of Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, has been arrested by law enforcement officials. The suspect has been identified as Tyler Robinson.

During a Friday morning interview on “Fox & Friends,” Trump provided an update regarding the assassination suspect, saying, “I think with a high-degree of certainty, we have him.”

“Everyone did a great job. We worked with the local police, the governor. Everybody did a great job. You know, getting somebody that you start off with absolutely nothing,” Trump said. “We started off with a clip that made him look like an ant, and that was almost useless. We just saw there was somebody up there. And so much work has been done over the last two and a half days. You know, it’s amazing, actually, when you start off with that and all of a sudden you get lucky or talent, or whatever it is. But yeah, I think we’re in great shape. He’s in custody.”

Fox News reported that while Trump did not reveal the name of the suspect, he did confirm that law enforcement officials were able to find the suspect with help from a member of the U.S. Marshals Service, the suspect’s father, and a minister.

“Essentially, somebody that was very close to him turned him in. And that happens when you had some of those good shots,” Trump stated.

“Somebody that was very close to him said, ‘Hmm, that’s him.’ And essentially went to the father, who went to a U.S. Marshal, who was fantastic, by the way. And the person was involved with law enforcement, but was a person of faith, a minister, and brought him to a U.S. Marshal who was fantastic,” the president added.

In another video clip from Friday morning’s interview on “Fox & Friends,” the president indicated that while the initial information he was providing to Fox News was “subject to change,” he could confirm that law enforcement officials have the individual in custody who they think “is the person we’re looking for.”

“They drove in to the police headquarters, and he’s there now,” Trump said.

Five senior law enforcement officials told NBC News on Friday that the suspect has been identified as Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old from Utah. A picture of Robinson was shared on X, formerly Twitter, by journalist Nick Sortor.
