The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has released photos of a “person of interest” in the assassination of conservative activist and Turning Point USA Founder Charlie Kirk. The suspect currently remains at large as law enforcement officials continue to conduct a manhunt just one day after Kirk was shot and killed at Utah Valley University.
In a Thursday post on X, formerly Twitter, the FBI’s Salt Lake City field office wrote, “We are asking for the public’s help identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.”
The FBI shared two pictures of the “person of interest” in the agency’s investigation of Kirk’s assassination. The pictures show a young, thin male with a long-sleeve black t-shirt featuring a graphic of the American flag, jeans, sunglasses, and a dark hat.
In addition to the two photos, the FBI’s Salt Lake City field office also released a statement regarding a bounty for information that leads to the identification and arrest of Kirk’s assassin.
“The FBI is offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the individual(s) responsible for the murder of Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah,” the FBI field office stated.

According to ABC News, FBI Salt Lake City Special Agent in Charge Robert Bohls confirmed during a Thursday morning press conference that law enforcement officials had recovered a “high-powered, bolt-action rifle” that is believed to have been used by the suspect during Wednesday’s assassination. Bohls also confirmed that law enforcement officials had recovered palm, foot, and forearm imprints, according to The BBC.
Law enforcement sources told ABC News that the firearm recovered by law enforcement officials is an older model of an imported Mauser .30-06 caliber bolt action rifle. Officials confirmed that the weapon was wrapped in a towel and was located in a wooded area near Utah Valley University.
ABC News also reported that the ammunition cartridge from the bullet fired at Kirk was found still chambered in the rifle and that three additional cartridges were discovered with “transgender and anti-fascist” writing on them.
