A 19-year-old male suspect and a 17-year-old male suspect were arrested on Monday for allegedly harassing two women and brandishing firearms while wearing clown masks in the Bitter Lake neighborhood of Seattle, Washington.

In a Monday press release, Seattle Police Department Detective Brian Pritchard announced that a 19-year-old male and a 17-year-old male were arrested early Monday morning for “harassing two women while wearing clown masks and brandishing firearms in the Bitter Lake neighborhood.”

The Seattle Police Department detective explained that police officers were flagged down at roughly 12:20 a.m. on Monday by two women on Aurora Avenue North. The two female individuals told law enforcement officials that they were approached by two masked male individuals near North 128th Street the night before.

“One suspect appeared to be holding a gun, while the other repeatedly adjusted his waistband. Fearing abduction, the women ran away,” Pritchard stated. “While speaking with the victims, officers saw a car matching the suspect’s vehicle pulling into a nearby fast-food restaurant parking lot. Police initiated contact with the two suspects. Inside the car, officers saw clown masks and extended gun magazines.”

Monday’s press release confirmed that the 19-year-old male suspect admitted to the harassment incident, showed police officers a video of the encounter with the two women, and claimed that the incident was a “prank.”

According to the press release, both the 19-year-old and the 17-year-old were arrested as part of the Seattle Police Department’s investigation of felony harassment regarding the incident. The 19-year-old was taken into custody at King County Jail, while the 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody at Judge Patricia H. Clark Children and Family Justice Center. Pritchard added that the vehicle used by the suspects had been impounded pending a search warrant.
