Law enforcement officials confirmed that one individual was killed and five others were injured in a mass shooting in Baltimore, Maryland, on Saturday night.

In a Saturday post on X, formerly Twitter, the Baltimore Police Department shared a picture of the crime scene and confirmed that police officials were on the scene of a “mass shooting at the intersection of Spaulding & Queensbury Avenues.”

“Multiple streets in the area are closed to the public. Please avoid the area,” the Baltimore Police Department added. More information to follow as it becomes available.”

During a Saturday news conference, Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley told reporters that officers “received a call for a shooting” near the intersection of Spaulding and Queensbury Avenues around 8:46 p.m. ABC News reported that the police commissioner said the victims of the mass shooting were having a crab feed outside at the time of the incident.

Worley confirmed that a 5-year-old girl was “shot in the hand” during Saturday night’s mass shooting. “Thankfully, it doesn’t appear that her injury is very serious,” Worley added.

While the police commissioner initially told reporters that one of the male victims was shot and was in critical condition, ABC News reported that police officials later confirmed that the 38-year-old man was pronounced dead on Sunday.

According to ABC News, police officials also confirmed that the other victims injured in Saturday’s mass shooting included a 23-year-old woman, a 32-year-old man, a 33-year-old man, and a 52-year-old man. The outlet noted that police officials said on Sunday that the victims were “believed to be suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.”

During Saturday’s press conference, Worley told reporters, “We have little information at this point. All we know is there’s multiple rounds fired, multiple victims.”

ABC News reported that police officials have not yet revealed any information regarding the suspect responsible for Saturday’s mass shooting; however, Worley confirmed that the suspect’s motive is under investigation and that it appeared that “somebody just opened fire” as people were gathered to eat crabs outside in the neighborhood on Saturday.
