Major General Amir Hatami, the commander-in-chief of Iran’s military, issued a warning on Sunday that the threat of additional Israeli strikes “remains fully active.” The Iranian military commander emphasized that Iran’s missile and drone capabilities are “standing and ready for operations” despite the recent strikes by Israel and the United States.

“A 1% threat must be perceived as a 100% threat. We should not underestimate the enemy and consider its threats as over,” Hatami said.

According to Reuters, Israeli Minister of Defence Israel Katz issued a warning last month that the Israeli military would strike Iran in the future if Israel was once again threatened by Iran.

“Israel’s long arm will reach you in Tehran, Tabriz, Isfahan, and anywhere you try to threaten or harm Israel. There is no place to hide,” Katz stated. “If we must return, we will do so with greater force.”

Citing IRNA, an Iranian state news outlet, Reuters reported that Hatami confirmed the Iranian military’s missile and drone capabilities are “standing and ready for operations.” According to Newsweek, Hatami also confirmed that the Iranian government will continue to advance its defensive capabilities following the strikes conducted against the Middle Eastern nation by both Israel and the United States in June.

In a statement obtained by Newsweek, Hatami said, “All branches of the armed forces, including the army’s four forces, are advancing rapidly in science and technology and are more determined than ever to enhance combat readiness for comprehensive defense.”

Brigadier General Ali Fadavi, deputy commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, also issued a statement regarding Iran’s military capabilities, saying, “The IRGC’s hardware readiness process has not been and cannot be stopped and will continue with strength.”

Additionally, PBS reported that Iran has created a new security council after multiple military officials were killed in the recent Israeli strikes. The outlet noted that Iran’s Supreme National Security Council determined that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will lead the Supreme National Defence Council, which will include military branch chiefs, the head of the Iranian judiciary, the speaker of the Iranian Parliament, and multiple other officials.
