The Israel Defense Forces announced on Tuesday that 60 Israeli Air Force fighter jets carried out an “extensive wave of strikes” against ballistic missile launchers in the western region of Iran that were threatening civilians in Israel amid the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
According to The Times of Israel, Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin, a spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces, confirmed that 60 Israeli Air Force jets conducted an “extensive wave of strikes in the heart of Iran” on Tuesday in an effort to target ballistic missile launchers that were aimed at Israel. Defrin explained that Iran has withdrawn its forces to the central region of the country following Israel’s military strikes over the past several days.
“Now, they are putting efforts into launching [missiles] from Isfahan,” Defin said, according to The Times of Israel. “They withdrew from western Iran, but we are coming after them.”

In a Tuesday video shared on X, formerly Twitter, Defrin shared an update on the fifth day of Israel’s “Operation Rising Lion.”
“We’ve struck deep, hitting Iran’s nuclear, ballistic, and command capabilities,” the Israel Defense Forces spokesman said. “The Iranian regime has spent years getting closer to a nuclear weapon. They have spent billions building a ballistic missile program. Our mission is clear-to remove the threat at its source.”
“We have delivered significant blows to the Iranian regime, and as such, they have been pushed back into central Iran,” Defrin added. “They are now focusing their efforts on conducting missile fire from the area of Isfahan. We are aiming at military targets. They are attacking civilian homes. The IDF will continue to operate with precision, strength, and resolve to ensure the safety of the people of Israel.”
Early Wednesday morning, the Israel Defense Forces released a video of an overnight military strike against an “Emad” missile launcher in Iran. The Israel Defense Forces also noted that roughly 25 Israeli Air Force fighter jets “struck over 40 missile infrastructure components” that were directed against Israel on Wednesday morning.
