President Donald Trump and Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani signed a “joint declaration of cooperation” between the United States and Qatar on Wednesday as part of the president’s visit to Doha, which is the capital of Qatar.

A video shared on X, formerly Twitter, by the White House’s Rapid Response 47 account shows the 47th president signing the joint declaration during a ceremony with Qatari officials. In a caption to the video, Rapid Response 47 tweeted, “@POTUS and the Emir of Qatar sign a joint declaration of cooperation between the two countries.”

Following the signing of the joint declaration of cooperation, Trump told reporters, “This has been a very interesting couple of hours.”

Trump explained that he discussed world matters such as the war between Russia and Ukraine, and developments with Iran, with Emir Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani during Wednesday’s meeting. The president noted that Qatar’s Emir has been a “tremendous help in so many different ways.”

“We certainly discussed Iran, where it’s been an interesting situation, I think it’s gonna work out. One way or another, it’s going to work out,” Trump told reporters.

According to The Hill, the signing of the joint declaration of cooperation came on the same day that Qatar Airways signed an agreement to purchase 160 jets from Boeing. The Post Millennial reported that Qatar’s Boeing deal is worth more than $200 billion.

“So it’s over $200 billion but 160 in terms of the jets, that’s fantastic,” Trump said on Wednesday. The president described the $200 billion deal as a “record” for Boeing and encouraged Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg to “get those planes out there.”

During Wednesday’s public comments, Trump praised Qatar for the “incredible” achievements of the nation.”

“You just take a look at what you have here,” Trump said. “It’s been incredible what you’ve been able to build as a nation. And we’re with you all the way, and you know that.”
