A vehicle pursuit involving multiple police agencies Thursday afternoon came to a close in the parking lot of the Seneca Niagara Resort & Hotel in Niagara Falls.

The pursuit began about 2:35 p.m. when a Town of Niagara police officer was called to a Military Road credit union to investigate suspicious activity related to fraud. The officer attempted to stop a white BMW SUV being driven by a woman but she failed to stop and the officer began the pursuit. The woman initially drove north toward Lewiston before turning back south into the City of Niagara Falls, traveling down Third Street and turning on to Ferry Avenue with more than a dozen police vehicles from several agencies in pursuit. The chase ended in the casino parking lot.

Mauxisha Dixon, 37, of Tonawanda, was taken into custody and charged with unlawful fleeing of a police officer, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration, reckless driving and numerous other vehicle and traffic violations in the Town of Niagara, Lewiston and City of Niagara Falls jurisdictions. Dixon was taken to Niagara County Sheriff’s Department for arraignment.

In addition to the Town of Niagara Police, the New York State Police, Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Park Police, Niagara Falls Police and Lewiston Police K-9 unit all assisted in the pursuit as it crossed through multiple jurisdictions.
