Law enforcement officials recently arrested a man in Fishers, Indiana, after he was caught digging up a gold ring that was buried with an urn at a cemetery.
In a recent press release, the Fishers Police Department announced that a man from Indianapolis had been arrested “after he was discovered digging up a grave site in Fishers.” WTHR 13 reported that the suspect was later identified as 24-year-old Seth Davidson.
According to the press release, a Fishers Police Department officer was conducting patrols near Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens last Monday evening when the officer noticed a “suspicious vehicle.” While the vehicle was not occupied, the press release said the police officer saw a “shotgun and paraphernalia in plain view.”
“While the officer was investigating the vehicle, Seth Davidson emerged from the nearby wooded
area,” the Fishers Police Department said. “The officer reported that Davidson was covered in dirt from head to toe and confirmed he owned the vehicle.”
“While speaking to officers, Davidson revealed that he was an Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens employee
and had recently buried an urn containing a gold ring,” the Fishers Police Department added. “He confessed that he couldn’t stop thinking about the ring, prompting him to dig it up to pawn it.”

The Fishers Police Department explained that Davidson hid the gold ring behind a dumpster after he observed police officers near his vehicle. The department said the 24-year-old later led police officials to the place where he had hidden the gold ring and that he showed police officers the grave he had dug up, “where fresh dirt indicated recent disturbance.”
The Fishers Police Department said Davidson was arrested on multiple charges, including felony theft, criminal trespass, cemetery mischief, and disturbing ground for artifacts from a grave.
The police department noted in the press release that Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens confirmed to police officials that Davidson was an employee of the cemetery.
“After they were made aware of the incident the staff checked the cemetery, and they believe this was the only gravesite that was disturbed,” the Fishers Police Department added. “The family of the deceased has been notified.”
According to WTHR 13, Davidson’s first court appearance was last Tuesday.
