Authorities have confirmed that a suspect was arrested on Thursday following a shooting at the Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital in Troy, Michigan.
“We can confirm there has been a shooting at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital,” the Troy Police Department said Thursday morning in a post on X. “This appears to be an isolated incident however the Suspect is not in custody. Please avoid the area.”
A video of the scene was shared on X, formerly Twitter. The video shows a large number of police vehicles near the scene of Thursday’s shooting.
According to WXYZ, Troy Police Department Lt. Ben Hancock confirmed that five shots were fired as one employee fired shots at another employee in the hospital parking lot at roughly 7:08 a.m. Hancock described the shooting as a “targeted incident between two employees at the hospital.” Police officials also said a 25-year-old victim was injured and in stable condition following the shooting.
The New York Post reported that Thursday’s shooting caused the hospital to implement a lockdown. The outlet noted that staff members were given an active shooter alert and instructions to “take immediate personal safety measures and follow the run, hide, fight guidelines.”
In a statement obtained by Fox News, Corewell Health said, “We are working with local law enforcement.”

“Out of an abundance of caution, the hospital is on lockdown. One victim is in the emergency department for medical treatment,” Corewell Health added. “Patients with services scheduled should not come to the hospital at this time. Patients may call the department where they were scheduled for service directly. No other information is available at this time.”
According to Fox 2, the Troy Police Department later confirmed that the unidentified suspect was taken into custody by law enforcement officials in Macomb County.
At 9:43 a.m., the Troy Police Department announced that the hospital shooting suspect had been arrested by law enforcement officials, tweeting, “ALL CLEAR AT COREWELL TROY, SUSPECT IS IN CUSTODY.” The Troy Police Department also confirmed that Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital was “in the process of returning back to normal operations” following the arrest of Thursday’s shooting suspect.
