A 24-year-old social media star with over five million followers died in her sleep last week while vacationing in Mexico.

According to Fox 4, 24-year-old Alysha Burney died in her sleep on March 2 during a vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The outlet noted that Burney would have turned 25 the day after her death.

Fox 4 reported that Burney had over five million followers on her TikTokInstagram, and YouTube accounts. The 24-year-old social media star also produced a film through her own production company, “ABurneyProductions,” and was working on multiple other projects prior to her sudden death last week.

Following’ Alysha Burney’s death, her brother, Charles Burney, told Fox 4 that the social media star was “not selfish with her knowledge and was a very open book about her journey.”

“She will always be dearly loved, and her legacy will live on forever,” Charles Burney added. “Alysha was very goal-oriented, creative, and passionate about giving back.”

Charles Burney explained that his sister had graduated with a bachelor’s degree in digital media production and was working on completing her graduate degree.

According to Fox 4, Charles Burney was with Alysha Burney when she died in her sleep. He confirmed that the social media star died after experiencing an asthma attack in her sleep and dismissed online rumors that the 24-year-old’s death had been linked to drugs.

“She does not do drugs,” Charles Burney said. “She was a self-loving and happy individual who cherished her life and was looking forward to the upcoming year’s plans. She was in Mexico to celebrate her birthday. She was a very classy young woman.”

“There’s a spread of misinformation online, stating different things based on speculation,” Charles Burney added. “These sources lack credibility and should not be believed. My sister did not engage in environments that would lead to such situations.”
