A National Security Agency (NSA) whistleblower revealed how the agency was infiltrated by left-wing ideology, eventually culminating in the “secret transgender sex chatroom” that was recently exposed, leading to Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s firing of over 100 intelligence officials.
A whistleblower identified as a “longtime NSA insider” told City Journal reporter Christopher Rufo that left-wing activists began promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs roughly 10 years ago and that the DEI programs eventually grew to dominate the agency’s daily work as DEI programs and events “started to get more and more.”
“You could be hired as a mathematician, a staff officer, or system engineer, but you would spend your time going to these events and having meetings all day about it,” the whistleblower said. “They got themselves into position to help craft policy and started pushing the idea that if you want to get promoted, you have to participate in these events.”
The whistleblower told Rufo that “everything became Pride” at the NSA and that work trainings revolved around “privilege,” “how to be a better ally,” and how to have “gender-neutral” conversations.

“You had analysts that didn’t want to do the reporting they were supposed to be doing because they were going to have to report on somebody’s ‘dead name,'” the whistleblower added. “They were having this crisis of conscience about reporting the adversary’s actual name because they thought it was their ‘dead name,’ and they didn’t want to disrespect the person. It was like a cult that was hellbent on pushing gender ideology.”
Addressing what Rufo described as a group of “very activist male-to-female transgender agents” in the NSA, the whistleblower noted that while there is a “very small number of them,” they “wield an enormous amount of power” at the agency.
The whistleblower also claimed that Marxist ideology was “prevalent” in the online chat rooms of the activist agents. “They hate capitalism. They hate Christians. They’re always espousing socialist and Marxist beliefs,” the whistleblower added.
The whistleblower described the agents that were heavily influenced by the transgender and Marxist ideologies at the NSA as “quite unstable” and argued that despite being “normalized” and “praised,” the left-wing ideology that has infiltrated the NSA over the past decade is a “counterintelligence risk.”
“I don’t care if you’re politically left or right; you can’t have an unbiased mind if you’re writing a report, and you’re constantly focused on ‘how does this apply to gender ideology,'” The NSA whistleblower told Rufo. “Because when you do that, it’s going to get people killed in the field.”
