A Europa League soccer game between Anderlecht and Fenerbahce was forced to temporarily stop on Thursday after a major brawl started in the stands at the Lotto Park Stadium.

The Daily Mail reported that Fenerbahce won the first match of the team’s play-off tie against Anderlecht with a score of three to zero last week in Turkey and that Fenerbahce started off Thursday’s game with a score in just the fourth minute of the game. However, the game quickly descended into chaos as a major fight started shortly after the goal was scored.

According to The Daily Mail, the cause of the temporary suspension of Thursday’s game was not immediately clear during the live broadcast of the soccer game. However, the outlet noted that it was later confirmed that a fight in the stadium stands had led to a 15-minute delay of the game.

A video on social media shows a major brawl near the lower-level seating in the stadium near the soccer field. The Daily Mail reported that players from both soccer teams initially went toward the brawl and attempted to calm the fans down; however, other players were quickly seen pulling their teammates away from the chaos.

According to The Daily Mail, riot police were forced to intervene in Thursday’s soccer fight, as security guards attempted to maintain order in the stadium. The outlet noted that fans were also reminded to follow appropriate behavior at the game.

Another video shared on X, formerly Twitter, shows the fight from a different angle higher up in the stadium stands. Multiple security officials can be seen attempting to break up the fight.

The Daily Mail reported that after roughly a 15-minute delay initiated by Referee Sandro Schaerer, both teams were able to return to the soccer field and finish Thursday’s game.
