President Donald Trump announced Dan Bongino, a popular conservative podcast host and a former U.S. Secret Service agent, as the deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Sunday.
In a Sunday statement released on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Great news for Law Enforcement and American Justice! Dan Bongino, a man of incredible love and passion for our Country, has just been named the next DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF THE FBI, by the man who will be the best ever Director, Kash Patel.”
In his announcement, the president noted that Bongino has a master’s degree in psychology from the City University of New York and a master’s in business administration from Penn State. Touting Bongino’s previous service record, Trump said Bongino was as a member of the New York Police Department and a “highly respected Special Agent” with the Secret Service. The president also highlighted Bongino’s current career as “one of the most successful Podcasters in the Country” with his podcast, “The Dan Bongino Show.”
“Working with our great new United States Attorney General, Pam Bondi, and Director Patel, Fairness, Justice, Law and Order will be brought back to America, and quickly,” Trump added. “Congratulations Dan!”
Following the 47th president’s announcement on Sunday, Bongino tweeted, “Thank you Mr. President, Attorney General Bondi, and Director Patel.”

In another statement shared by Bongino and his team on social media, the former Secret Service agent confirmed that he had accepted the FBI position as “part of a broader effort to restore public trust and reinforce the integrity of one of America’s most critical institutions.” The statement explained that Bongino’s decision to accept the role of deputy director of the FBI was motivated by a “commitment to service and a belief that law enforcement and national security institutions must be strengthened.”
“I’ve spent my life in public service, beginning with the NYPD and continuing through my time as a Secret Service agent, working under both Republican and Democrat administrations,” Bongino said. “I’ve witnessed firsthand the dedication and sacrifice of the men and women in these agencies who serve with integrity and honor.”
Bongino emphasized that the dedicated members of the FBI deserve to have leaders who will “back them up, protect their mission, and ensure they can do their jobs.”
“My career has always been about service. I’m here to work. I’m here to lead,” Bongino added. “And I’m here to ensure that America’s law enforcement institutions uphold the values and integrity they were built upon.”
