Police are searching for a hooded gunman who fired multiple shots last week at the home of an insurance company CEO in Lake Oswego, Oregon. The shooting incident came amid emailed threats from an individual claiming to be the shooter.

According to Fox News, the Lake Oswego Police Department confirmed that State Accident Insurance Fund Corporation CEO Chip Terhune’s home was shot up on February 21. The Daily Mail reported that three bullets shattered the glass windows and front door of Terhune’s home.

According to a Wednesday press release, the Lake Oswego Police Department said that police officials responded to “reports of gunshots” at the residence between 3:30 and 4:30 a.m. last Friday.

“An unknown suspect fired several rounds into the home from close range and left the area on foot,” the Lake Oswego Police Department said.

Police officials shared a picture on social media of the individual “believed to be the suspect” in last week’s shooting incident. The Lake Oswego Police Department said the suspect was “seen wearing all dark clothes with a possible hoodie or ski mask, and carrying a light-colored object in his hand” and that officials believe the suspect “had a vehicle parked nearby” the scene of the shooting.

According to an email obtained by Oregon Live, Terhune informed State Accident Insurance Fund Corporation employees that his house had been attacked.

“At around 4 a.m., I heard what I thought were rocks thrown at my house, but discovered they were gunshots,” Terhune said. “An investigation is underway, and we don’t know if this was specifically targeted to me.”

“We have received an email threat purporting to be the person(s) responsible,” Terhune told his employees. “Although it does not target any specific employee, the email references knowledge of employee and relatives’ names and addresses.”

Terhune urged employees at the State Accident Insurance Fund Corporation to “remain vigilant,” to be “aware of their surroundings,” and to report any “suspicious activity” in light of last Friday’s incident.

“Law enforcement is working diligently to investigate this matter and asked that we not share any additional specific information about the actual email,” Terhune added.

The shooting at the home of the State Accident Insurance Fund Corporation CEO comes after 26-year-old Luigi Mangione was arrested in December as the suspected gunman in the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan. The Post Millennial reported that Mangione has received significant support from people who are critical of health insurance companies in the United States in the aftermath of the healthcare CEO’s assassination and has raised over $500,000 to pay for his legal expenses.
