A nurse practitioner and LGBTQ activist recently pleaded guilty to federal child sex crime charges after sending child pornography to an undercover agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

In a December press release, the U.S. Justice Department wrote, “Lucas Allen Fussell, 42, of Onley, Virginia, pleaded guilty yesterday to federal charges arising out of his distribution of child pornography to an undercover law enforcement officer in June 2024.” According to the Justice Department, Fussell pleaded guilty to “two counts of distribution of child pornography” on December 18.

Court documents state that Fussell exchanged “videos and images containing child pornography” between December 20, 2023, and February 7, 2024, by using an anonymous account on an encrypted messaging application. The child pornography was exchanged with an individual whose phone was seized and searched by the FBI.

“In the course [of] those conversations, Fussell shared details that revealed his identity,” the Justice Department wrote. “Those details included his home address, a description of his vehicle, and numerous sexualized comments about examining the genitals of patients—some as young as 11 years old—that he saw in the course of his work as a nurse practitioner.”

Court documents show that an undercover FBI agent used the seized phone in June to respond to a message from Fussell on the encrypted messaging app and that Fussell sent the FBI agent “numerous images and videos depicting the rape and sexual abuse of prepubescent boys” on two separate occasions.

According to the Justice Department, the FBI executed a search warrant at Fussell’s home in Onley, Virginia, on July 16, 2024. During the execution of the search warrant, FBI officials seized “numerous encrypted electronic devices.” The Justice Department added that Fussell was arrested and has remained in custody since the execution of the search warrant.

In the recent press release, the Justice Department said U.S. District Court Judge Rudolph Contreras scheduled Fussell’s sentencing for May 6, 2025. According to the Justice Department, Fussell faces a minimum of five years and a maximum of 40 years in prison. The nurse practitioner and LGBTQ activist will also be required to make mandatory restitution.

Journalist Andy Ngo shared a picture of Fussell on Monday in a post on X. Ngo also shared screenshots of Fussell’s former social media posts, noting that the nurse practitioner had a history of supporting left-wing movements, such as drag queen story hour, sex education for teenagers, and mandatory masking.
