The United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania confirmed on Monday that two Antifa terror suspects were sentenced to prison and probation for using an explosive firework to injure police officers during a protest at the University of Pittsburgh in 2023.

According to a Department of Justice press release, U.S. District Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan sentenced 37-year-old Brian DiPippa to five years in prison and Brian DiPippa’s 42-year-old wife, Krystal DiPippa, to three years of probation. The husband and wife will also be required to pay $1,400 in restitution to the University of Pittsburgh and $47,284 to a University of Pittsburgh Police officer following financial damages incurred by the police officer due to injuries inflicted by the two Antifa suspects.

Monday’s press release stated that the “DiPippas participated in an April 2023 protest on the University of Pittsburgh campus, during which Brian ignited and dropped two homemade incendiary smoke devices in and around a line of people waiting to enter a building for a scheduled event featuring guest speakers.”

According to The Post Millennial, the event referenced by the Justice Department was a speech on “Womanhood and Transgenderism” by Daily Wire host Michael Knowles on April 18, 2023.

The press released noted, “When university police officers gathered and formed a barrier to prevent protesters from entering the rear of the building, Brian, concealed by Krystal, ignited and threw a large explosive firework into the group of officers, causing a loud explosion and injuries to several officers.”

The Post Millennial reported that the Torch Antifa Network identified Brian and Krystal Dipipa as members of the group in the aftermath of Brian DiPippa’s arrest following the April 2023 protest incident.

“The DiPippas conspired to injure law enforcement officers and cause chaos at a college campus protest,” U.S. Attorney Eric G. Olshan in Monday’s press release. “They attacked brave men and women who were trying to maintain order and protect the attendees. Today’s sentencings – and particularly the years of incarceration imposed on Brian DiPippa – should serve as a deterrent for anyone who would consider engaging in such outrageous and dangerous conduct in the future.”

FBI Pittsburgh Special Agent in Charge Kevin Rojek said that the sentencing of Brian and Krystal DiPippa sends “a clear message that the FBI and our partners will use all available tools to bring to justice those who seek to injure, main, or attack law enforcement officers.”
