President-elect Donald Trump publicly urged President Joe Biden on Monday to “stop selling” the materials needed for the construction of the Trump administration’s border wall along the southern border between the United States and Mexico.

During a press conference at Mar-a-Lago on Monday morning, Trump said, “I’m asking today, Joe Biden, to please stop selling the wall. We’re going to use that to create a strong barrier. And it worked. That’s why our numbers were so good. It really worked, and it worked well, and it’s very expensive to do. And I’m asking Joe Biden to stop his people from giving it away.”

The Post Millennial reported that Trump’s comments on Monday came in response to the Biden-Harris administration’s recent decision to auction off portions of unused border wall materials.

Trump added, “It’s something that people can’t even believe is happening, so hopefully Joe will be able to stop it.”

Trump claimed that the Biden-Harris administration’s decision to sell unused materials for the southern border wall construction was “almost a criminal act.” The president-elect warned that prices for the border wall construction materials are “very expensive” and are roughly “double the price of what it would have been six years ago.”

“They know we’re gonna use it,” Trump said. “And if we don’t have it, we’re gonna have to rebuild it, and it’ll cost double what it cost years ago, and that’s hundreds of millions of dollars because you’re talking about a lot of wall.”

Criticizing the Democratic leadership under the Biden-Harris administration, Trump said the sudden sale of border wall materials just prior to his inauguration has “nothing to do with a smooth transition” and is about people “really trying to stop our nation.” As a result of the administration’s actions, Trump warned that the country will have to spend “hundreds of millions of dollars more” to purchase the materials again under his upcoming administration.

The president-elect explained that people purchasing the border wall materials from the Biden-Harris administration have “already come back to us that have deals at five cents and four cents and one guy at three cents on the dollar, and they offered to sell it back to us at more money than it costs us to build substantially.”

Trump told reporters that he has discussed the issue with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and the senators of Texas and indicated that they will “hopefully be able to stop” the sale of the border wall materials. He added, “We’re going to be, you know, having a restraining order.”
