A body camera video shows a police officer and a good Samaritan heroically saving a man from rolling off a bridge while asleep on a guardrail in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

According to Fox News, Oklahoma City Police Officer Reyes discovered a man lying on his back on a concrete guardrail on the bridge that spans across the Oklahoma River and connects Oklahoma City and Stockyards City at roughly 9 a.m. on November 10.

The body camera video shows Reyes exiting his vehicle and approaching the sleeping man, who was dressed in a red hooded sweatshirt and jeans. As the police officer approached the sleeping man, the man suddenly moved his legs, turned toward his right side, and started falling off the guardrail of the bridge. As the man started to fall, Reyes quickly grabbed onto his hoodie, preventing the man from falling into the water.

Fox News reported that a jogger also jumped into action and helped Reyes secure the man’s arms and pull him back onto the bridge. In the video, the man in the red sweatshirt can be heard groaning as the police officer and good Samaritan hold onto him and help pull him back onto the bridge.

“Hey sir, come on,” Reyes can be heard telling the man. After the man was safely back on the bridge, the police officer asked, “You all right bud? You all right?”

According to Fox News, The Oklahoma City Police Department said the man was checked by a medical team and was not hurt in the November 10 incident.

Oklahoma City Police Msgt. Gary Knight told News 9 that the guardrail is roughly a foot wide and that the drop from the bridge to the water is “about a 30-to-40-foot drop.”

Applauding the actions of Reyes and the good Samaritan, Knight said, “It’s a real hero type thing you see an officer spring into action – save someone’s life with the help of a citizen.”

According to News 9, the man involved in last month’s incident told police officers that he was not trying to harm himself and that he fell asleep while resting as a result of the nice weather.
