A new report claims that the federal government is currently attempting to hire up to 1,200 employees to work on tasks related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives ahead of President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration in January.

According to an analysis of federal job opportunities conducted by The Daily Wire, up to 1,200 DEI employees could be hired by the federal government ahead of the upcoming Trump administration. The outlet noted that the DEI positions have salaries of up to $310,000 and could cost a total of $160 million per year. The Daily Wire reported that 33 of the DEI positions were posted in the first 10 days following Trump’s landslide election victory over Vice President Kamala Harris and that the hiring window for the positions closes prior to Trump’s inauguration.

The Daily Wire reported that the DEI jobs are currently advertised on USAJobs.gov, which is the website used for potential employees of the federal government. The outlet noted that when the job information was obtained in November, the job openings were listed with a status of either “accepting applications” or “applications under review.”

According to The Daily Wire, some of the jobs currently being filled under the Biden-Harris administration are positions just below the rank of the “political appointees” that will be selected by the Trump administration.

As an example, The Daily Wire said the Department of Health and Human Services advertised on November 15 for a Deputy Assistant Secretary for Minority Health. The position, which would be responsible for the promotion of “health equity,” is listed with a salary of up to $221,900.

Another example is a director position at the Federal Deposit Insurance Commission’s Office of Equal Employment. According to USAJobs.gov, the director would develop “Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA), employee development, employee performance, and other personnel plans, processes, programs” and would receive up to $310,000 in compensation.

The Daily Wire noted that if the open positions in the federal government are filled prior to Trump’s inauguration, the American people will be responsible for paying individuals who were not selected by the president-elect or his administration to promote DEI policies that are not supported by the Trump administration.
