A gunman opened fire inside a busy Brooklyn subway station Monday afternoon but nobody was hit, police said.

At least one shot rang out inside the Jay St-Metrotech stop in Downtown Brooklyn at 12:03 p.m., cops said.

The shooter, believed to be between 16 and 20 years old, fled the station and is being sought. It wasn’t immediately clear why he opened fire.

The suspect is described as dark skinned with braided hair and was wearing a black jacket with a black hoodie underneath.

Twelve people have been shot in the subway system so far this year, up from eight victims by this time last year.
