Israeli-American hostage Omer Maxim Neutra, 21, who was kidnapped in the Gaza border area on October 7, was declared dead while being held in the Strip. This was announced by the IDF, adding that the body is still in the enclave.
US Navy destroyers shot down seven missiles and drones fired by Yemeni Houthi rebels at warships and three US merchant ships they were escorting in the Gulf of Aden. No damage or injuries were reported. This was announced by US Central Command, stating that the destroyers USS Stockdale and USS O’Kane shot down and destroyed three anti-ship ballistic missiles, three drones and one anti-ship cruise missile. The merchant ships were not identified.
The Houthis claimed the attack in a statement and said they had hit the US destroyers and “three supply ships belonging to the US military in the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Aden”.
The wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Sara, met with President-elect Donald Trump at an event he held at his golf course in Florida. In a social media post, Netanyahu wrote that the two discussed “the strategic importance of Israel’s victory in the war” and the importance of the continuing relationship between Israel and the United States. “I spoke with the President about the great suffering our country endured on October 7 and stressed the urgency of acting to free the hostages and bring them back as soon as possible,” Sara Netanyahu wrote.
