President Joe Biden is reportedly considering issuing preemptive pardons for several current and former officials, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, who previously led the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Fauci came under during the Covid-19 pandemic due to his controversial recommendations and alleged involvement in gain-of-function research.
According to Politico, senior aides to the president have expressed concerns over President-elect Donald Trump’s upcoming administration, particularly his recent announcement that Kash Patel will head the FBI during his second term.
Other officials who reportedly may receive preemptive pardons include Sen.-elect Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming.
