The Aurora Police Department announced that 14 people were arrested on Tuesday for an “armed home invasion” at the same apartment complex in Aurora, Colorado, that was reportedly taken over by the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang earlier this year.
In a Tuesday press release, the Aurora Police Department wrote, “Fourteen people have been detained by Aurora police after officers responded to a report of a home invasion with weapons at The Edge at Lowry Apartments.”
The Aurora Police Department said police officers responded to a report of an “armed home invasion” just prior to 2:30 a.m. at an apartment complex in the city.
“The preliminary investigation suggests several suspects entered an apartment occupied by two people,” the police department stated in the press release. “The suspects moved the victims to another apartment on the property, where they were threatened and bound.”
According to police officials, an adult male suffered a non-life-threatening stab wound during Tuesday’s armed home invasion. Police officials noted that the victims called 911 after they were eventually released by the suspects.
“Multiple Aurora police patrol units responded to the scene,” the press release added. “Fourteen people have been detained and are being questioned by investigators.”

According to Fox News, the Aurora Police Department has indicated that the apartment complex incident was “without question a gang incident.” During a news conference on Tuesday, Aurora Police Department Chief Todd Chamberlain confirmed that 13 to 15 individuals entered an apartment at the complex with two people inside and moved them to a different apartment, where the two victims were “threatened and bound.”
“They were pistol-whipped, they were beat, they were mistreated,” Chamberlain said. “So does that fall in the category of torture for me? Yeah, it does.”
“This is without question a gang incident. I don’t know which gang they are affiliated with yet,” the police chief added. While Chamberlain did not confirm which gang was involved in the apartment complex incident, he noted that there “is a high assumption that they may be affiliated with the TdA [Tren de Aragua] gang.”
Fox News reported that The Edge at Lowry Apartments is the same apartment complex that received nationwide attention over the summer after a viral video showed armed Tren de Aragua gang members going through the hallways of the complex.
