A staff member at the University of Oregon encouraged supporters of President-elect Donald Trump to “go jump off of a f-cking bridge” following Trump’s landslide victory over Vice President Kamala Harris.
In a video message on Instagram that has since been made private, University of Oregon Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life Leonard Serrato said, “I’m done crying. My sadness is over. My anger has set in. I am a very petty person, and I am very proud of that…I say this in the most disrespectful way possible – I don’t care if you are my family, I don’t care if you are my friend, I don’t care if we’ve been friends our entire lives – you can literally go f-ck yourself if you voted for Donald Trump.”
Serrato added, “If you are so sad about your groceries being expensive, get a better f-cking paying job. Do better in life. Get a f-cking education. Do something, cause you are f-cking stupid. And I hope that you go jump off of a f-cking bridge.”
According to The Daily Emerald, which is the University of Oregon’s school newspaper, Serrato also posted an Instagram Reel addressing students at the college, including “LGBTQIA” students and students of “color,” and urged them to “take care of yourself and know that you have my support.” The school newspaper added that Serrato then made his Instagram account private.

Following Serrato’s Instagram video, Eric Howald, a University of Oregon spokesperson, told The Daily Emerald that the university was “collecting more information about the situation.” Howald added, “At this time, it appears that the individual made the post on their own time, which is well within their rights.”
Rep. Ed Diehl (R-Ore.) shared a statement from a University of Oregon legislative official, who confirmed that Serrato had been put on administrative leave while the university conducted an investigation into the incident. “The video is absolutely abhorrent and against our values,” the official told Diehl. “The employee is on admin leave while an investigation takes place on the matter.”
Serrato’s video encouraging Trump supporters to jump off a bridge resulted in some backlash on social media. One social media user tweeted, “Messed up. Knowing Oregon he’ll get a promotion for this.” Another social media user wrote, “The party of joy, everyone!” A third social media user commented, “There is true evil on this world, and you can see it in his eyes…”
