An illegal immigrant was arrested last week and charged for allegedly raping a 5-year-old girl in Long Island, New York. The suspect was previously arrested by U.S. Border Patrol and released into the United States.
According to a Thursday press release by the Nassau County Police Department, 26-year-old Wilson Castillo Diaz was arrested last Tuesday by Special Victims Squad detectives for “raping a 5-year-old female child.” Nassau County Police Department officials noted that the alleged rape incident took place on October 16.
Following the alleged rape incident, the 5-year-old girl was taken to a local hospital, where medical professionals conducted an evaluation, according to Thursday’s press release. The Nassau County Police Department’s press release did not provide details regarding the illegal immigrant’s relationship with the 5-year-old girl or where the alleged rape incident took place.

The Nassau County Police Department’s press release said, “Defendant Diaz is charged with Rape 1st Degree, Attempted Rape 1st Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.”
According to Nassau County Police Department officials, Diaz illegally entered the United States near the Rio Grande Valley in Texas in April of 2014. The illegal immigrant was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents; however, Diaz was released into the United States and failed to show up for his immigration court hearing.
In Thursday’s press release, police officials indicated that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement had been notified of the situation following Diaz’s arrest last week.
Nassau County Police Department officials added, “Detectives request that if anyone feels they may have been a victim from this individual, they should contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244 TIPS or the Special Victims Squad at 516–573–4022.”
According to The New York Post, Diaz currently remains in custody on a $200,000 cash bond.
