The community gathered together Saturday for the county’s annual Veterans Celebration, including a parade featuring an array of vintage trucks and cars, motorcycles, and more.
The parade began at Carnaby Square and notably featured a military truck followed by American Legion Post 16 and the Oleika Shriners trucks. As the annual parade made its way through London that afternoon, participants waved at onlookers — some even throwing out lollipops for them to retrieve.
The parade came to an end at Wildcat Harley Davidson within the hour. There, veterans were provided with a free meal, beverage, and dessert.
This annual event is organized by Laurel County Judge Executive David Westerfield to honor all who have served the country, a cause which Westerfield holds closely to his heart as someone who has had several family members serve. Each year, he holds the event to honor veterans, showing appreciation for their commitment and contributions.
