Tesla CEO Elon Musk unveiled the company’s latest generation of Optimus robots during Tesla’s “We, Robot” event at Warner Bros Discovery Studios in Burbank, California, on Thursday.
While Tesla’s newest generation of Optimus robots made their way toward the stage, Musk announced that the company has “made a lot of progress” in creating a “robot with arms and legs instead of a robot with wheels.”
Discussing Tesla’s Optimus robot program, Musk said, “As you can see, we started up with someone in a robot suit, and then we’ve progressed dramatically year after year. So if you extrapolate this, you’re really going to have something spectacular, something that anyone could own.”
Musk explained that people will one day be able to have their own personal robots. Looking ahead to the future of the Optimus robot program, Musk claimed that people will be able to eventually purchase an Optimus robot for somewhere between $20,000 and $30,000.
“And what can it do? It’ll be able to do anything you want,” Musk said. “So it can be a teacher or babysit your kids. It can walk your dog, mow your lawn, get the groceries, just be your friend, serve drinks. Whatever you can think of, it will do.”

During Thursday’s showcase event, the Tesla CEO said he believes that the Optimus robot will be “the biggest product ever of any kind.” He added, “I think every one of the 8 billion people of earth, I think everyone’s going to want their Optimus buddy.”
Musk also claimed that the Optimus robots will be capable of supporting a variety of products and services, adding, “The cost of products and services will decline dramatically, and basically anyone will be able to have any products and services they want.”
After highlighting the future plans of the Optimus robot program, the Tesla CEO told the crowd that the Optimus robots would be available at the event for people to “walk right up to them” and that some of the robots would even be serving drinks.
A video of Musk’s Optimus robot presentation was shared by Collin Rugg, co-owner of Trending politics, on X, formerly Twitter. In his tweet, Rugg said Musk introduced an “army of Optimus robots” at Thursday’s event.
Other videos on social media show the Tesla robots interacting with event attendees, serving drinks, handing out gift bags, walking around, dancing, and playing rock-paper-scissors.
