Hollywood icon Dennis Quaid, who recently starred in “Reagan,” gave a public endorsement of former President Donald Trump during his rally in Coachella, California, on Saturday.

Appearing on stage at Trump’s California rally, Quaid said, “I’m here today to tell you that it’s time to pick a side. Are we going to be a nation that stands for the Constitution or for TikTok? Are we going to be a nation of law and order or wide open borders? Which is it? Because it’s time to pick a side.”

Quaid referenced his experience playing former President Ronald Reagan in his recent film, describing Reagan as “my favorite president of the 20th century.” The Hollywood actor told the crowd that the issues that played a major role in the 1980 election were “very similar to what they are today.”

“We were a nation in decline. That’s what they told us. Ronald Reagan came along and said, ‘No, we’re not a nation in decline. We’re going there.’ And we followed him,” Quaid told the crowd while pointing up. “The same with Trump, with President Trump. My favorite president of the 21st century.”

Quaid added, “I’m gonna ask you a question that Reagan asked America back then, and I think it’s the question that got him elected. Are you better off than you were four years ago?”

The “Reagan” actor explained that under Trump’s leadership, the United States was an “energy independent nation” with low gas prices and the ability to export oil to American allies. Quaid contrasted the current situation under the Biden-Harris administration, claiming that Russian President Vladimir Putin is “making money hand over fist, selling oil that he uses to pay for his Soviet-style comeback war that he has with Ukraine” while the Biden-Harris administration shuts down pipelines and is forced to “beg” countries like Saudi Arabia and Venezuela to sell more oil.

Pointing to the economy, Quaid said inflation was “under 2%” when Trump left office compared with the “fairy tale called Harris-Bidenomics,” which he said “just doesn’t work.”

Quaid also told the crowd that Trump would have conducted the Afghanistan withdrawal with “honor and order” and contrasted the way the Trump and Biden-Harris administrations handled Iran.

“Iran was bankrupt,” Quaid said. “They weren’t able to give weapons to Hamas and Hezbollah. And look at where we are today. We basically funded that war.”

Quaid added, “Four years ago, we had a secure border. We were on our way to even doing more and having a wall. That’s what a nation is. It has a wall.… But I guess it’s like voter I.D., you don’t need it in this country for some reason.”
