A management company that runs multiple apartment complexes in Colorado shared a surveillance video and a photo on Tuesday of the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang assaulting one of its employees after the employee refused to accept a bribe.

According to Fox News, CBZ Management said members of the Tren de Aragua gang has taken over multiple apartment buildings in Aurora, Colorado, by threatening employees and attempting to extort the company.

CBZ Management told Fox 31 that the latest surveillance video shows a CBZ representative being assaulted by the gang at the Whispering Pines Complex at the end of last year after refusing to take a bribe. A picture shared alongside the surveillance video shows the employee covered in blood after the incident.

The company claimed that the employee discovered a group of squatters in a vacant apartment and refused to accept $500 to “overlook the situation.” According to Fox News, the employee was then assaulted by the gang before receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.

“I think they were trying to kill me,” the CBZ Management representative told Fox 31. “I don’t know how I got out, but I got out.”

The company also claimed that the employee received text message threats following the apartment complex incident.

According to Denver 7, a police report obtained from the 18th Judicial District Court confirmed that a CBZ Management employee was assaulted by Yoendry Vilchez Medina-Jose, a Tren de Aragua member, last November. The outlet noted that it was not immediately clear whether the November report was from the same incident as the new surveillance video.

Addressing the issue with the Tren de Aragua gang taking over Colorado apartments, CBZ Management released a statement last week on X, formerly Twitter, saying, “Gangs have taken control of several of our properties in Aurora, Colorado. In an attempt to discredit this fact for political purposes and avoid governmental accountability, some have spread false information about our situation.”

In another post, the company added, “Despite clear evidence, many still deny the reality of the situation, sometimes using us as scapegoats. That’s why we are no longer staying silent. We will continue to counter falsehoods with simple facts and evidence. Yes, gangs did take control of our apartment complexes in Aurora, Colorado, and the government did nothing. That is the real story.”
