Video: Man hides guns in secret bunker

A resurfaced video shows police uncovering an Australian man’s secret bunker with multiple weapons, 1,000 rounds of ammunition, a gun modification workbench, and an underground shooting range.

The Daily Mail previously reported that Australian law enforcement officials discovered that an Australian boxing promoter had a secret underground bunker underneath his couch. The Western Australia Police discovered the hidden bunker after conducting a search at the home of David “Ice Man” Letizia in May of 2022.

A resurfaced video of the Australian man’s secret bunker was recently shared on X, formerly Twitter. The video shows police officials pulling a hydraulic arm located in the man’s living room, causing the couch to move and revealing a stairway to a hidden bunker underneath the man’s house.

The Daily Mail reported that the secret bunker illegally contained multiple shotguns, high-powered rifles, and handguns, as well as roughly 1,000 rounds of ammunition. The hidden bunker also featured a gun modification workbench, bulletproof body armor, and a shooting range.

At the time, Western Australia Police Minister Paul Papalia told 7 News that the discovery of the secret bunker provided evidence that the government’s gun control legislation needed to be updated.

“Our laws are outdated. They allow some very high-powered firearms that really are designed for shooting rhinos or penetrating armour plating,” Papalia said. “There’s no justifiable reason for them in our state. That’s why we’re going to ban them.”

Papalia told 7 News that Australia’s police “make no apologies” for pushing for “a complete rewrite of the firearms act.” The police minister told the outlet that the legislation would be updated and that “just about every element of firearms ownership and use will be addressed.”

Following the discovery of the hidden bunker, Letizia was charged with the possession of an unlicensed firearm, the possession of unlicensed ammunition, the possession of bulletproof clothing, and the improper storage of ammunition.

Western Australia Police told The Daily Mail Australia that the Australian man “was sentenced on 9 September 2022 in the Midland Magistrates Court in relation to the five criminal charges.”

“He received a total of $2,600 in fines and a forfeiture order of all items subject to the charges,” Western Australia Police added. “His firearm license was also revoked.”
