A video shared by the Israel Defense Forces shows the last moments of Hamas terrorist leader Yahya Sinwar, who was killed by the Israeli military on Wednesday.

In a statement obtained by CNN, the Israeli military said, “In recent weeks, IDF and ISA forces, under the command of the Southern Command, have been operating in the southern Gaza Strip, following IDF and ISA intelligence that indicated the suspected locations of senior members of Hamas.”

The Israeli military added, “IDF soldiers of the 828th Brigade (Bislach) operating in the area identified and eliminated three terrorists. After completing the process of identifying the body, it can be confirmed that Yahya Sinwar was eliminated.”

According to Fox News, Israeli soldiers reportedly discovered suspected terrorists in Gaza and opened fire at the suspects, forcing the suspects to hide in a building. After the terrorist suspects fled, an Israeli tank fired at the building, forcing it to collapse. Sinwar, who is believed to have been the leader behind the devastating Hamas attack against Israel last October, was identified as one of three bodies uncovered when the Israeli soldiers examined the remains of the building.

A video shared by Israel Defense Forces shows drone footage of Sinwar just prior to his death. Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, an Israel Defense Forces spokesperson, said the video appears to show the Hamas terrorist leader throwing a piece of wood at an Israeli drone that was assessing the damage caused to the building he was hiding in. Hagari said Sinwar’s body was later discovered alongside a gun and almost $11,000.

In a video message following Sinwar’s death, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that Sinwar was dead and said, “While this is not the end of the war in Gaza, it’s the beginning of the end.”

Announcing the elimination of Sinwar, the Israeli prime minister said, “Hamas will no longer rule Gaza.” Netanyahu added, “This is the beginning of the day after Hamas, and this is an opportunity for you, the residents of Gaza, to finally break free from its tyranny.”

In a Friday statement obtained by Fox News, Basem Naim, a senior Hamas official, responded to Sinwar’s death, saying, “Yes it’s very painful and distressing to lose beloved people, especially extraordinary leaders like ours, but what we are sure of is that we are eventually victorious; this is the outcome for all people who fought for their liberty.”
